Leading specialist law firm restructures following 75% growth in 3 years 

LONDON – September  2024, Industry-leading, independent law firm, JE Bennett Law, which specialises in representing people in vulnerable circumstances, has restructured to reflect organic growth in related areas, as a result of a 75% increase in revenue since 2020/21. 

Recognised as a leading firm for complex cases involving Court of Protection, Power of Attorney and Personal Injury Trusts, JE Bennett Law has now established a Private Client division, due to an exponential increase in demand for Wills and Probate services. The firm has seen a 257% increase in Probate since 2020/21.  

“Our core business of Deputyships has increased by 78% over the last three years, as a result of extending and deepening our referrer network,” comments founder and Managing Partner, Jane Bennett, one of only six lawyers nationally to make the Legal 500 Hall of Fame for Court of Protection.  “As we represent more and more deputyship clients, this has led to a corresponding increase in demand for affiliated legal services.  

“We have therefore restructured into three fee-earning divisions – Personal Injury & Expert Witness, Panel & Local Authority, and Private Client – to give focus to the respective areas and to drive future growth in line with our core values of protecting and empowering our clients and delivering appropriate legal support to the highest standards.” 

Over the same period, the practice has increased its headcount by 61%. “We now have eight partners and two solicitors; a team of 12 paralegals; a trainee and administration support staff, representing clients across the UK from our headquarters in Tunbridge Wells, Kent,” adds Jane Bennett. “Our expertise is reflected in the company being ranked as a Leading Firm in the Legal 500, with individual rankings for four of the team. 

“The growth in demand for Wills and Probate has created a solid platform for further strategic growth,” explains Senior Partner, Richard Shearing, who heads the Private Client division. “We anticipate more organic growth as we extend this service to the clients in vulnerable circumstances that we represent. But we are also looking to offer Private Client services to a wider client base in our home territories of Kent and Sussex.”  

Looking ahead, the firm expects the current organic growth rates to continue, but is alert to opportunities to accelerate those rates through external growth.
